system planning, wiring diagrams, installation
Background:
The project involved completing an unfinished
senior design project that integrated a photovoltaic system into a campus
picnic table. The goal was to use the existing PV setup and integrate the
remaining electrical components to provide a functional charging system for
student devices.
Direct Contributions:
●
Learned and applied fundamentals
of PV electrical systems
●
Developed an understanding of
fusing, wiring selection, and basic system protection
●
Created a system wiring diagram to
document component connections
●
Assembled the electrical system
inside a junction box
●
Designed an educational diagram to
explain system operation to users
●
Installed and verified a fully
functional charging system
Outcomes:
The system was completed and made operational for student use. This project was
my first hands-on engineering experience in college and directly motivated me
to take on a project leadership role the following year.
